Nominations for the CEDIA Board of Directors is now open through August 7th—And CEDIA wants and needs women on their board!
We have been having this conversation for decades. Where are the women on CEDIA’s board? Well, it is reassuring to know that CEDIA is actively recruiting women to fill the five open places. Tabatha O’Connor, CEDIA’s COO went on record with their intent to recruit women. Note, three of the open slots are for HTP (Home Technology Professional) candidates. As an installer/integrator, those candidates are voted upon by the membership. The additional two spots are appointed. These are individuals who are inside or outside the industry. If inside the industry, it means a supplier, distributor, media person, consultant, etc. And they still have to be self-nominated or nominated by a third party.
I spoke to Tabatha this week and she assures me that it is well within our scope as an organization to actively assist women candidates with their campaigning (within the parameters of the CEDIA Campaign Philosophy — see attached). So candidates, put us to work for you! We will devote our August e-Newsletter to presenting women candidates’ point of view. Our deadline to receive your information will be one week after nominations close, August 14. The newsletter will deploy right before the CEDIA show.
Help us with this important initiative. Nominate yourself and nominate a sister or two (or ten). BTW, a nomination gets you into the pool. BUT, if a candidate has multiple nominations, that is recorded!
